SHOPPING
Bondi Junction - train ride from the city, about 20 mins. All the designer stores and big department stores in one place.
Queen Victoria Building - right in the heart of Sydney city, all major shops and loads of cafes.
THINGS TO DO
Taronga Zoo - catch the ferry across to the zoo from Circular Quay. On a clear day you get an amazing look at the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. You need a full day as there are animal shows on throughout the day...the bird show is not to be missed. Fabulous view of Sydney Harbour from the Gondola ride.
Aquarium - at Darling Harbour. Around lunch time there is shark feeding, which is a fantastic experience for those too scared to get in the water with the real thing. Also the 'touch pools' are a great way to understand marine life.
Bondi Beach - a short train ride from the city and in summer time packed with tourists and locals. Fantastic bars and cafes all year round.
Centre Point Tower - in the middle of Sydney city. Best 360 degree view of Sydney on a clear day. Great opportunity for photographs.
Manly Ferry - great way to see Sydney Harbour without taking a harbour cruise. Great beach during the summer months. Must have hot chocolate and fudge brownie at Max Brenner cafe in the ferry terminal.
Blue Mountains - a full day tour but well worth the time. Around 2 hours to get there the view of the 3 sisters is amazing and the ride on the cable car and old miners train is a bit of a rush. Gorgeous bush walks at all times of year.
NIGHT LIFE
Wildfire - nice atmosphere, fairly expensive but great variety of food and wine. Great for those that love their meats. Bookings essential
Sienna Marina - down at Wooloomooloo Wharf Fantastic brunch or lunch location. Pricey but good wine and great food
